Professor Oded Shenkar is one of the most important and longest contributors in the world's management research community to Chinese business and management. He is a pioneer of Chinese management research, beginning his seminal publications on Chinese culture, Chinese management values, comparative management styles between China and the West four decades ago. He then continued to forge ahead Chinese management research in arenas of cross-cultural negotiations involving China, Sino-foreign joint ventures, comparison of organizational behavior between Chinese firms and those from the West, and interfaces between strategic management, international management, and human resources management involving Chinese companies. Oded Shenkar holds degrees in East-Asian (Chinese) Studies and Sociology from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and a PhD from Columbia University, where his dissertation on the Chinese bureaucracy involved the department of Sociology, the Graduate School of Business, and the East-Asian Institute. He is the Ford Motor Company Chair in Global Business Management and Professor of Management and Human Resources at the Fisher College of Business, The Ohio State University, where he heads the international business area, and is also a member of the Centers for Chinese Studies and for Near East Studies. Professor Shenkar has been a Senior Fellow at the University of Cambridge, and has taught at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong University of Science & Technology, Peking University, University of International Business and Economics (Beijing), and the International University of Japan, among others.
Professor Shenkar has published more than hundred scholarly articles in leading journals such as The Academy of Management Review, the Academy of Management Journal, the Journal of Applied Psychology, Human Relations, Journal of International Business studies, Strategic Management Journal, and the Harvard Business Review, among many others.
